ASIA PACIFIC SCREEN AWARDS [APSA]
With films from 70 countries and areas in the region, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards honours filmmaking that best reflects its cultural origins and the diversity of the Asia Pacific. Now in its second decade, APSA has solidified itself as a globally-recognised event that is a defining part of the international film calendar. Nearly 3000 films have featured in competition and while they cover varied genres, styles and scope, they have all been united by their diversity. Each film tells its own unique story in its own way, from its own country of origin.
I have been honoured to have been involved with the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in various capacities since 2015. In 2020 with international borders closed a smaller ceremony went ahead on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, alongside the second inaugural Asia Pacific Screen Forum which brings together filmmakers from across the Asia Pacific. In 2021, a full competition line-up will be delivered for the 14th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, with the Awards Ceremony and 3rd Asia Pacific Screen Forum to again be presented on Australia’s Gold Coast.
